A semisynthetic extended spectrum penicillin active against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

[USP] the disodium salt of carbenicillin, having the same actions as the base; administered intramuscularly or intravenously in severe systemic infections and septicemia, urinary and genitourinary tract infections, acute and chronic respiratory infections, and soft tissue infections.
