plyometrics
ply·o·met·rics (pli″o-metґriks) [derivation unknown; possibly a misspelling of pleiometrics, from pleio- + Gr. metron measure] intensive exercises in which muscles are subjected to rapid loading (q.v.) and release, generating a great amount of force in a short period of time. Called also plyometric exercises.
