orthomolecular psychiatry
psychiatry based on the theory that psychiatric illnesses are due to disturbances in the molecular environment of the brain and can be cured by restoration of optimal concentrations of substances normally present in the body, such as vitamins (orthomolecular therapy). Cf. orthomolecular medicine.
