involutional ptosis

involutional ptosis
ptosis resulting from degeneration of the attachment of the levator palpebrae superioris muscle to the eyelid; it is usually caused by a defect in the aponeurosis (aponeurotic p.), but it can have other causes, such as fatty degeneration of the muscle. The term is often used synonymously with aponeurotic p.
