small nucleolar RNA
(snoRNA) any of a class of small RNA's localized to the eukaryotic nucleolus and, as small nucleolar ribonucleoproteins (snoRNP's), involved in processing and modification of rRNA molecules and assembly of ribosomes. At least some are encoded within the introns of other genes.
