segments of anterior cerebral artery

segments of anterior cerebral artery
the segments into which the anterior cerebral artery is divided; in anatomical terminology segments A1 (precommunicating part) and A2 (postcommunicating part) are recognized. In clinical terminology, the artery is described as comprising five segments, with A1 the precommunicating part and A2–5 constituting the postcommunicating part. The A2 segment continues from the anterior communicating artery to the genu of the corpus callosum; A3 corresponds to the pericallosal artery and continues around the genu until turning posteriorly; A4 and A5 continue posteriorly, above the plane of the corpus callosum, their division marked by the plane of the coronal fissure.
