continuous hyperfractionated accelerated radiotherapy: a recently developed radiotherapy technique aimed at the rapid destruction of tumour cells when they are actively proliferating and therefore most sensitive to radiation. The technique continues to be evaluated at research level: it has been shown to be of benefit in the treatment of lung cancer and may also be useful for locally advanced head and neck cancer.
