Sudan black B fat stain

Sudan black B fat stain
a stain used to demonstrate Legionella and fat vacuoles in bacterial cells. A heat-fixed smear is treated with Sudan black B, cleared with xylol, and counterstained with safranin. Fat vacuoles stain blue-black; bacterial cells stain pink.
