iliotibial band syndrome

iliotibial band syndrome
a type of overuse injury in athletes caused by repetitive rubbing of the iliotibial tract (or band) against the lateral femoral epicondyle as the hip is repetitively extended and flexed; the primary symptom is severe pain in the thigh and knee.
