milk-alkali syndrome
a syndrome characterized by hypercalcemia without hypercalciuria or hypophosphatemia, with only mild alkalosis, normal serum phosphatase, severe renal insufficiency with hyperazotemia, and calcinosis, attributed to ingestion of milk and absorbable alkali for long periods of time. Called also Burnett or hypercalcemia s.
