pacemaker syndrome

pacemaker syndrome
vertigo, syncope, and hypotension, often accompanied by dyspnea, cough, nausea, peripheral edema, and palpitations, induced or exacerbated by abnormalities of the cardiac pacemaker so that it stimulates the ventricle. The symptoms occur because ventricular pacing does not maintain normal atrioventricular synchrony; retrograde ventriculoatrial conduction causes low cardiac output and activates cardiac reflexes that result in increased peripheral vasodilation and hypotension.
