captopril test

captopril test
(for renovascular hypertension) the angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor captopril is administered to a patient with hypertension. If the patient's plasma renin level increases sharply within one hour, this indicates that the hypertension has a renovascular cause such as renal artery stenosis (see under stenosis).
