mixed triglyceride breath test
(for pancreatic function) a breath test in which a mixture of synthetic triglycerides labeled with carbon 13 is administered to the fasting patient and levels of labeled carbon dioxide in the breath are subsequently measured at regular time intervals; excessively low carbon dioxide indicates inadequate pancreatic lipase in the intestine.
