cephalic tetanus
cerebral tetanus a rare, sometimes fatal form of tetanus sometimes seen after injury to the head or face or a bout of otitis media where Clostridium tetani has invaded the middle ear; it is characterized by isolated or combined dysfunction of the cranial nerves, especially the seventh cranial, and may remain localized or progress to generalized tetanus.
