Trichomonas gallinae

Trichomonas gallinae
a species found in birds, having four anterior flagella and usually inhabiting the upper digestive tract and related structures or other organs such as the liver; it causes a form of avian trichomoniasis. Infection varies from mild to a rapidly fatal disease manifested by caseous accumulations and necrosis in involved tissues and severe weight loss.
