Trypanosomatina
Try·pano·so·ma·ti·na (tri-pan″o-so″mə-tiґnə) a suborder of parasitic protozoa of the order Kinetoplastida, phylum Euglenozoa, comprising hemoflagellates that are found in the hosts' blood, lymph, and tissues. They have a leaflike or rounded body with one nucleus, one flagellum that is free or attached to the body by an undulating membrane, and a relatively small, compact kinetoplast, and pass through at least two morphologically distinct stages in their life cycles (see amastigote, choanomastigote, epimastigote, opisthomastigote, promastigote, and trypomastigote). Genera causing disease in humans include Leishmania and Trypanosoma.
