urticaria pigmentosa

urticaria pigmentosa
the most common form of mastocytosis, seen primarily in children, characterized by multiple persistent small, hyperpigmented, pruritic macules and papules. The usual site is on the trunk, although some cases are on the limbs, head, or neck. Lesions tend to produce urticaria upon mild mechanical trauma or chemical irritation (Darier sign). See also mastocytoma.
