urticarial vasculitis

urticarial vasculitis
a group of cutaneous vasculitides characterized by urticaria lasting longer than 24 hours. There are three types: a normocomplementemic, generally idiopathic and benign manifestation of cutaneous leukocytoclastic angiitis; a hypocomplementemic type that is often associated with systemic inflammatory disease; and the potentially life-threatening hypocomplementemic urticarial vasculitis syndrome (q.v.).
