primary vitreous

primary vitreous
the earliest vitreous in the embryo, formed from a mass of ectodermal and mesodermal fibrils between the optic cup and the lens vesicle and vascularized by the proliferating hyaloid system. It ceases to be formed when the lens capsule is formed, and is then enveloped by secondary vitreous.
