Incomplete formation of the bones of the vault of the fetal skull so that there are nonossified areas in the calvaria. SYN: craniofenestria. [cranio- + L. lacuna, cleft]

cra·nio·la·cu·nia (kra″ne-o-lə-kooґne-ə) [cranio- + lacuna + -ia] defective development of the calvaria of the fetal cranium with depressed areas on the inner surfaces of the bones. Cf. craniofenestria. Called also lÑŒckenschдdel.
