Cycle, menstrual

Cycle, menstrual
The menstrual cycle, "the period" of monthly changes of the endometrium (the lining of the uterus), ends with the shedding of part of the endometrium and menstruation (monthly vaginal bleeding) and, by convention, is considered to begin again on the first day of menstrual bleeding. That day is designated as "day 1".
