fi·bro·tho·rax (fi″bro-thorґaks) adhesion of the two layers of pleura, so that the lung is covered by a thick layer of nonexpansible fibrous tissue (see dry pleurisy). It is often a consequence of traumatic hemothorax or of pleural effusion.
