hy·a·lu·rono·glu·co·sa·min·i·dase (hi″ə-l-ron″o-gloo″kōs-ə-minґĭ-dās) [EC 3.2.1.35] an enzyme of the hydrolase class that catalyzes the hydrolysis of random β-1,4 linkages between N-acetylglucosamine and D-glucuronic acid residues in hyaluronan. It also hydrolyzes chondroitin, chondroitin 4- and 6-sulfates, and dermatan sulfate. It is one of the enzymes called hyaluronidases; see also hyaluronate lyase and hyaluronoglucuronidase.
