Unequal conjoined twins in which the rudimentary parasite is attached to the mandible of the autosite. See conjoined twins, under twin. [hypo- + G. gnathos, jaw]

hy·pog·na·thus (hi-pogґnə-thəs) [hypo- + Gr. gnathos jaw] a parasitic twin attached to the lower jaw of the larger twin in asymmetrical conjoined twins. See also polygnathus.
