hy·po·pi·tu·i·ta·rism (hi″po-pĭ-tooґĭ-tə-riz″əm) diminution or cessation of function of the adenohypophysis due to surgical removal, to ablation by irradiation, or to spontaneous causes, as in chromophobe adenoma or postpartum necrosis (Sheehan syndrome).
