An autoantibody-like immunoglobulin (IgM) formed in animals (or man) against their own complement following injection of complement-containing complexes or sensitized bacteria.

im·mu·no·con·glu·ti·nin (im″u-no-kən-glooґtĭ-nin) an autoantibody, usually of the immunoglobulin M class, that is specific for activated C3 and C4 components of complement. It is found in low titer in most normal sera and in increased levels in certain infectious diseases, in autoimmune disease, and after immunization with many antigens. Not to be confused with conglutinin. Called also immune conglutinin.
