Ma·tri·ca·ria (mat″rĭ-karґe-ə) [L.] a genus of flowering herbs of the family Compositae, native to Europe and Asia. M. recutiґta (formerly M. chamomilla) is one of two plants called chamomile, whose dried flower heads are used medicinally. M. nigellaefoґlia is a type of feverfew and causes hepatic encephalopathy in cattle.
