Term applied to any of the organic isothiocyanates in general, but more specifically to allyl isothiocyanate; such oils are metabolically convertible to thiocyanates and may thus lead to goiter.
- expressed m. the fixed oil expressed from the seeds of Brassica alba and B. nigra; it contains the glycerides of oleic, arachidic, and other fatty acid s; used as salad oil and in the manufacture of oleomargarine.

1) a colorless to pale yellow pungent irritating essential oil that is obtained by distillation from the seeds usu. of black mustard after expression of the fatty oil and maceration with water, that consists largely of allyl isothiocyanate, and that is used esp. in liniments and medicinal plasters compare SINIGRIN
