The dried leaves and flowering tops of Mentha piperita (family Labiatae); a carminative and antiemetic.

pep·per·mint (pepґər-mint) Mentha piperita. [NF] the dried leaves and flowering tops of M. piperita, which have carminative, gastric stimulant, and counterirritant properties; used in flavoring, used internally for gastrointestinal disturbances and liver and gallbladder complaints, used in folk medicine for digestive disturbances, dysmenorrhea, and respiratory infections, and used in homeopathy for colds.
