Medicalize

Medicalize
To identify a condition as a disorder requiring medical treatment. The term "medicalize" is usually used in a pejorative or disparaging sense. For example, "The recommendation that all women take folic acid during the childbearing years tends, some have argued, to medicalize this time in a woman's life."
