nodular circumscribed lipomatosis in which the adipose deposits are tender or painful because of pressing against adjacent nerves. It is usually seen in women, and sometimes there are accompanying pulmonary complications that can be fatal. Called also Anders disease, Dercum disease, and lipomatosis dolorosa.
