Bollinger Otto (1843-1909)
German pathologist. Bollinger is considered to be one of the founders of comparative pathology and made important contributions to both human and veterinary medicine. In 1870 he published the first description of botryomycosis. In 1876 he discovered actinomycosis in cattle, publishing a description the following year. The inclusion bodies characteristic of fowl pox are called Bollinger bodies in his honor.
