Clau·di·us 'klau̇d-ē-u̇s Friedrich Matthias (1822-1869)
Austrian anatomist. Claudius studied the hearing organs of land and marine mammals. In 1852 he described those cells in the organ of Corti which are now known as the cells of Claudius.
