Coats's disease 'kōts-, 'kōt-səz- n a chronic inflammatory disease of the eye that is characterized by white or yellow areas around the optic disk due to edematous accumulation under the retina and that leads to destruction of the macula and to blindness
Coats George (1876-1915)
British ophthalmologist. In 1908 Coats published the first description of the inflammatory condition of the eye that results from hemorrhage under the retina and is now known by his name.
