olivospinal tract n a tract of fibers on the peripheral aspect of the ventral side of the cervical part of the spinal cord that communicates with the inferior olive

a group of nerve fibers in the lateral funiculus, seen as a triangular area in transverse section of the spinal cord; it descends from the olivary nucleus through the medulla oblongata to the upper cervical segments. Recent studies have drawn its existence into question. Called also Helweg or triangular t.
