An orally effective synthetic anticoagulant of the coumarin type, with similar actions. SYN: acenocoumarin, nicoumalone.

ace·no·cou·ma·rol (ə-se″no-kooґmə-rol) a coumarin derivative used as an oral anticoagulant; it acts by inhibiting the hepatic synthesis of vitamin K–dependent coagulation factors (prothrombin and factors VII, IX, and X) and proteins C and S.
