Primary Care Trust

Primary Care Trust
(PCT)
one of a group of free-standing statutory bodies within the National Health Service, accountable to their local Health Authority. PCTs have the same overall functions as Primary Care Group but are able to commission local care and are responsible for the provision of community services, such as social work, health visiting, etc.
