World Health Organization

World Health Organization
an international organization, membership of which is open to every country, with subscription according to means; health issues are discussed and policies evolved mainly through working groups, including acknowledged authorities, and published reports. Staff are seconded by invitation to advise on self-help to solve problems (especially infectious disease control). WHO handles information on the internationally notifiable disease, publishes the International Classification of Diseases, and awards fellowships to enable health staff from poorer countries to obtain further training.
