continuous insulin infusion pump

continuous insulin infusion pump
a device to deliver a continuous infusion of fast-acting insulin to the body instead of using repeated injections throughout the day. It is worn under the clothing and connected to the skin by a tube and a fine needle. These devices have had limited successes in some individuals but require careful usage, particularly when exercise levels unexpectedly differ from usual. They require further evaluation and experience before becoming widely available.
