infliximab
n.
a monoclonal antibody used to treat severe cases of Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis that have failed to respond to treatment with corticosteroids or immunosuppressants and antirheumatic drugs, respectively. It acts as an immunosuppressant by inhibiting the tumour necrosis factor TNF-a. It is administered by infusion. Trade name: Remicade.
