quantitative digital radiography

quantitative digital radiography
a method of detecting osteoporosis. A narrow X-ray beam is directed at the area of interest (usually the spine and hip), which enables a measurement to be made of its calcium content (density). In this way the likelihood of fracture can be assessed and preventive measures considered, e.g. hormone replacement therapy.
